Friends

Our very first conversation is one that is near and dear to us. As founder and owners of TBS, we have collectively been through great trials, severe disappointments, and navigated complex journeys that could have turned out differently. So we don’t want to have conversations for the mere sake of having conversations; we want to have conversations that are worth having. The kind that sometimes aren’t finished when done talking, or in this case reading, because they continue in your head. The ones we hope will help to heal hurt places, and maybe even rescue some hurting souls. This leads us to our first conversation.

should our inner beauty matter, when the world and those around us only seem to regard, reward, and cherish outer beauty?

We love the questions behind this question! Like — “do I matter when others make me feel like I don’t? Should I bother becoming inwardly beautiful when no one may even care or notice? Do industry executives even understand the level of pain their industries cause women? Would they make different choices, if they did?” Okay, but back to our question. Is it worth investing in a part of you that most people will never see and no one may ever reward you for developing?

Here we go — so everything you eat, watch, wear, say, do, emulate, listen to, allow around you, are captivated by, think and dream about — it all matters! Your inner and outer beauty can be positively or adversely affected by the stimuli, influences, and quality of what you ingest or allow around you. We believe your inward and outward beauty, along with how you view yourself, can have a direct correlation to who you are and who are becoming. Those areas noted above greatly affect you, so you have to be very intentional about all of them, knowing they will each have an effect whether it be good or bad.

Okay, so back to your inner beauty. It matters greatly and can be affected or hindered by your past experiences, depending on your life circumstances, experiences, and choices, and if you have had a lot of toxicity around you. Sort of like wearing a fancy outfit smeared with dung; something is greatly amiss, and has to be addressed immediately. Your outfit may be stunning, but the smell will have an affect and get worse over time. Similarly, at some point, you have to acknowledge what pain or trauma brought into your life and choose to get to the root of it. We have to be honest about the circumstances that affected our sense of beauty, perspective, and how we view ourselves. This must be faced head on, so we can deal with the stain on our outfit, so we can eventually get rid of it. Otherwise, we might not understand why some people may back away from us, their distance may very well be legitimate. It’s hard to face, but truth is a gift we can give ourselves; and knowing the truth can help us get to why we may, or may not, love our complete self, inner and outer. We may all have different backgrounds and experiences, and be in different places on the journey of completely loving ourselves; we hope that wherever you are in the process today, you find the strength to face your challenges and commit to staying on the journey of loving you!
