Our vision started out with wanting women to own their beauty journey, meaning don’t just hand over your face, hair, or body to some professional, without really knowing exactly what they’re putting into or upon you, and who they are. Also, if you ever have to replicate their processes, can you do it? Can you even come close? So we started with hair styles and wanting women to understand and own the processes to better participate and play an active role in their own beauty regime.
“Why?” You may ask…it’s just a hair appointment. Until you can’t leave your home and have to replicate the process and find yourself lacking, when you didn’t know just how lacking you were.
But we didn’t stop there, that’s the practical side of the vision; the whole beauty regime gets us going in a whole other direction. We soon shifted to wanting women to define their beauty culturally, in a healthy, and helpful fashion. Some cultures think your skin should be super white, others think a dark golden tan is it, others don’t want hips or lips too wide, others despise thin lips and pasty skin, and the list goes on. We won’t even talk about industries profiting at the expense and misery of young women globally lamenting what they are not, rather than celebrating what they are.
Then there’s how everyone is fixing the outside, ignoring their inner strength and worth, so busy attaining a semblance of beauty that is not permanent, through bottle or surgery, whatever the means and ignoring the call to heal thy inner self…strutting like a peacock during the day, only to get home and crash and burn at the reality of who they are or are not. It’s maddening and it perpetuates because no one is screaming – “hey, there’s an exit door off the ferrwheel, and you can slide right off when the mad doctor looks away.” We want to be the scream, so another young woman doesn’t lose herself, her life, her pride, her dignity, her sense of self, her worth, her health and wholeness to a person, system, or society that does not embrace or really care about her.
So yes, there’s a fun side where we want to play and have fun, but there’s also some very real work to be done; and we hope that in gathering, we can do both. If we can recognize the control game being played, unpack lies, heal, and become really strong — we’ll ultimately do great things! It’s a long answer, but it’s the one you’re worthy of hearing, if you really want to know why we put our lives on hold for several years, and endured pains untold, to build our platform for you. We really hope you will love it. It’s not for everyone, but for the right ones, we believe it will be life giving and inwardly transforming.
In short, we cannot fully unpack our vision here. We will simply say that we hope you will journey with us and give us a chance to journey with you. We hope you will read our stories and tell your own. We hope you’ll watch out for the community and set the expectation bar high, so we can all celebrate what’s good about community and not tolerate unhealthy and uncalled for, because we can all do and be better. We hope this will be a place where you come to on a great day to enjoy a win and treat thyself to something wonderful from our store. But also, when you’ve had a bummer of a day and need a friend to love you, hear you out, and be honest with you; we hope this will be the place you come to for that as well. Lastly, for those super exciting events, when gathering with ladies in groups; we’re here to help you build your dream gatherings: styling your wedding party, ladies retreats, vacations, weekend getaways, and other special events; in other words life, we hope to help you do life with other great ladies.
