I used to be very influenced by what the world and the people around me said I should wear, what makeup to buy, what music to listen to, and how to think. I shopped at overpriced retail stores, despite being a Ross girl at heart, because it felt more rewarding to do what everyone else was doing as opposed to what actually made me happy and authentic. Although it’s an occasional struggle to navigate being true to myself and my heart during such a pressurized age in society (18), I do my best to cling to what I know genuinely matters and makes a real difference in my personal life and the lives of those around me. It does not matter if my shirt comes from Pacsun or Ross, or if my makeup is drugstore or Sephora-based, because my inner beauty is more defining and long-lasting than the outer beauty trends could ever be.
